Paper Aeroplanes
This week in their Flight topic, Chesil Class explored the fascinating story of the Wright brothers and discovered how their determination and creativity helped achieve the first powered flight. The children learnt about how early aeroplanes were designed and the importance of testing and improving ideas.
Afterwards, the class became aircraft engineers themselves by designing and making their own paper aeroplanes.
To finish the lesson, Chesil Class headed out onto the playground to test their aeroplanes’ flying abilities. There was lots of excitement as the children launched their creations and compared which designs travelled the furthest, stayed in the air the longest, or flew the straightest. It was a fantastic hands-on lesson that combined creativity, problem-solving and scientific investigation.
